A Visitor Record is a document that gets issued to certain visitors who are either already inside Canada or the CBSA officer wishes to apply certain conditions on the visitor’s stay in Canada.
The most common use of a visitor record is by a TRV holder inside Canada whose TRV is about to expire or the allowed duration of 6 months on a single entry is about to come to an end. When such an individual applies to extend his/her stay in the country then he/she is likely to receive a Visitor Record document which officially extends the visitor’s stay in Canada.
Alternatively, at the port of entry, when a CBSA officer decides to apply some special conditions such as a shorter or longer duration of stay, restrictions on the areas to be visited, the special requirement of a medical exam, etc. then a Visitor Record can be issued.
