Super Visa

A Super Visa is a more beneficial form of Temporary Resident Visa that is only meant for a certain category of Foreign Nationals who wish to visit Canada. As a measure toward family reunification, this form of a TRV is only meant for the Parents and Grandparents of Canadian Permanent Residents and Canadian Citizens. This program is considered beneficial because it allows a visitor a longer duration of stay on any single entry. Until recently, this program allowed a Super visa holder to visit their kids or grandkids in Canada and stay with them for up to 2 years without having to renew their status. This aspect of this visa was recently changed and from July 2022 onwards, the allowed 2 years duration was changed to 5 years before one would have to renew the status. Additionally, a Super Visa holder would also have the option of applying for a 2-year extension (at a time) at the end of the 5-year period.
