About The Northwest Territories

Like its namesake The Northwest Territories lies in the North Western part of Canada. This is one of the 3 Territories of Canada and these are referred to as territories because unlike a province a territory does not have its own government. The Federal government handles the laws and is in charge of all policies. This territory in particular has a land area of approximately 1,144,000 km² and a population of only around 45000 people with the capital city of Yellowknife housing just a little less than half of that number. This is primarily because of the harsh winters seen in this area and the absence of too many urban cities. While the winters are harsh they are not impossible to live in. Yellowknife being the urban hub boasts of infrastructure similar to any other developed city. It has schools , hospitals , restaurants & bars, shopping caters, an airport and even a public transit system. The low population means that there is always a need for talented individuals to move to this territory and contribute to its economy. It is therefore important for all prospective immigrants to look at this territory as a potential future home as it might be easier for some to qualify under their Nomination Program.
