Immigrate As A Nanny

Nannies or Live-in Caregivers can currently use one of the two Canadian Immigration programs to come to Canada, Home Child Care Provider Pilot & Home Support Worker Pilot. It is important to note here that these are both Pilot programs that are of a temporary nature and have a limited in-take each year. IRCC accepts a maximum of 2,750 applications each year for each pilot and a total of 5,500 applications between both caregiver pilots.

The table below shows some of the key differences and similarities between the two programs and how one can use them for their immigration journey.

Procedure	Applicants can submit a Work Permit & Permanent Residence Application together
	Family Members of the Primary Applicant (Caregiver) can apply for Study/Work Permit
	Receive “Occupation Restricted Work Permit” allowing to work for any eligible employer in Canada
	Once Caregiver has 24 months of Qualifying Canadian Work Experience within the last 36 months, they can submit proof & receive a decision on the PR Application

Requirements	CLB 5 in English or French
	1 Year or higher Post-Secondary education in CANADA or ECA-verified similar education abroad
	Intent and ability to perform the tasks required under the NOC description and this can be proven through qualifying work experience in the given NOC and/or training through documentation
	Have a Qualifying Full Time(30+hrs/week) Paid Job Offer from a Canadian Employer outside Quebec. The employer must not be an embassy, high commission, or consulate
	Intent, Ability, and Job Offer are no longer required when applying for Permanent Residence on the basis of the accumulated 24 months of Work Experience
