Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

This is an Immigration program that is one of the most commonly used by foreign nationals who wish to settle down in Canada. It is especially helpful for applicants who have no connection with Canada whatsoever but have gained valuable foreign work experience that makes them suitable for immigration to Canada. The program falls under the umbrella of The Express Entry system where, like other Express Entry programs, the applicants submit an expression of interest by creating a profile in The CRS Pool and then wait for an opportunity to receive an Invitation to Apply. In addition to the CRS score, applicants under this program must also obtain a minimum of 67 points on a 100 points FSW points grid.

Minimum Requirements:

In order to be eligible, the applicant:

1. Must have gained a minimum of 12 months of Paid Work Experience in a continous, full-time capacity. This experience should be in a New NOC / TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 Job Category and must have been gained within the last 10 years.

2. Must meet or exceed the Language proficiency requirement of CLB 7 in either English or French.

3. Should have completed a Canadian High School Diploma or equivalent in foreigneducation.

4. Must provide proof that the applicant has enough funds to support his/her family (unless the applicant is already in Canada working legally on a Work Permit or has a qualifying Job Offer from a Canadian Employer).

Applicants wishing to settle in the province of Quebec cannot apply through this program, Quebec has a separate program aimed at inviting Skilled Workers to settle in Quebec.
